Health Geographics Lab

Join Us

We regularly have opportunities to join the lab for motivated students at all levels.

Postdoctoral scholars
Postdoc positions are generally dependent upon extramural funding. When a position is available, it will be advertised on the lab's home page, as well as with the Department of Geography and Regional Studies and other professional employment outlets. We encourage doctoral candidates and postdoctoral scholars interested in joining UM to contact us about potential sponsorship for independent extramural funding applications.

Graduate students
We are always happy to recruit talented applicants to the Master's degree program in the Department of Geography and Regional Studies. Funding is competitive, but motivated applicants may affiliate with the lab upon enrollment if sponsored by Dr. Moise or Dr. Stoler. Students are expected to have some background or interest in quantitative or qualitative methods, particularly geospatial methods. Because this department does not currently have a doctoral program, students may potentially work with the lab while pursuing a doctorate through a number of cognate disciplines at UM. Contact us for more information.

Undergraduate students
We frequently employ undergraduate research assistants on our projects and encourage interested students to reach out to us about your interests. There are several ways in which undergraduates may work with the lab: as an internship or independent study for academic credit, as a paid research assistant, or through a variety of internal awards and scholarships offered by the University. Regardless of the role, students are expected to have some background or interest in quantitative or qualitative methods, particularly geospatial methods. If you do not yet have this background, please contact us for specific course recommendations.
